Every day I log into my email server and that spam folder mail count has increased. This morning was not different, although when I logged in the email server today and I had spam in my inbox. Started me thinking is Spamassassin had died, it had! So I thought I would post this with comments on why this is very much wrong.
This is to bring to your notice that, I have paid the delivery fee of your
VISA CARD, I paid it because the VISA Card ($1.8m),has few weeks to expire and
when it expires, the money will go into Government purse. With that I decided
to help you pay the money so that the VISA CARD will not expire, because I
know when you get your ATM definitely you must send my money back. Now I want you to contact The TNT Company in Benin so that they will deliver
your Card to your address without any delay. Like i stated earlier, the
delivery charges has been paid. Note I deposited it with the company
yesterday. Below Is the Company Contact InformationContact Person: Mrs. Rose M. Amar
E-Mailcmmu333@gmail.com)
Contact Number: +229 99 233 315.This is what they will required from you.
Your Full Name…… Your Private Telephone …… Your Address where the ATM
will be deliver to …. Country/Region……Contact them today to avoid increase of their keeping fees.
Regards,
Mr. Inner Shaw
So, now I really want my VISA card with its $1.8m limit as I have never had one before. If it is too good to be true, normally it isnt. So what is wrong with this email?
- The English language construction is very poor, as if this is not the writers first language.
- Benin is in Africa where the native language is french. TNT have a listed offices in Benin, but no Mrs Rose M Amar.
- TNT use their TNT email domain, not gmail.com.
- The government do not keep your VISA card is you dont collect it.
- VISA dont generally deliver your card, the provider does. It is normally to your house, not an ATM machine.
- +229 99 233 315 is listed as known scammers phone number. I phoned it and the person answering the phone did not speak very good french at all, worse than mine in fact.
All good fun for a sunday morning.
