Chicken Rescue

May 16th, 2010 by peter.bassill

Our chickens, rescued from a battery farm in May 2010 by the British Hen Welfare Trust and homed to our lovely bit of this country.

Now in a better place for their remaining days, these girls are very literally free ranging. Their home is situated on some scrub land we have access to, giving them a huge (well, if your a chicken it’s huge) 120 square meters of space to rummage in, pull stuff up from and chase bugs around.

As you can see from the photo’s below, they are not exactly in the best condition.
Poultry Pot
Despite her name, she is very timid but like shoes laces

Henible Lecter

Mischievous pecker of the other girls

Slobodan Molosochick
Rather lovely but likes to mix it up with the other girls.

Atilla the Hen
A persistant trouble maker and escape artist.
