1
00:00:01,220 --> 00:00:03,540
So, welcome, everybody.

2
00:00:03,540 --> 00:00:17,840
It's like to everybody that's watching the streams, to everybody that's actually got the program and actually started doing the Altspace VR experience, some as early as just, you know, yesterday, downloading it and getting it going.

3
00:00:17,860 --> 00:00:19,880
I greatly appreciate it.

4
00:00:19,880 --> 00:00:21,420
It's like, my name's Jason E.

5
00:00:21,420 --> 00:00:21,800
Streed.

6
00:00:21,800 --> 00:00:24,080
I'm the DEF CON Group's Global Ambassador.

7
00:00:24,080 --> 00:00:29,100
It's like, I'm also their biggest fanboy, unashamedly so.

8
00:00:30,200 --> 00:00:36,100
And we're going to talk a little bit about why we've got this Altspace VR world going.

9
00:00:36,100 --> 00:00:42,160
We're going to talk a little bit about the mission about DEF CON Groups and the reason why this is all going on.

10
00:00:42,280 --> 00:00:47,960
We're going to talk a little bit more about the whole, what brought it about.

11
00:00:47,960 --> 00:00:50,060
It's like, and all the people involved in it.

12
00:00:50,060 --> 00:00:55,640
So, it's like, because this was definitely a group effort and it was definitely showing exactly the importance of this.

13
00:00:55,680 --> 00:00:58,460
So, I'm really happy to be here.

14
00:00:58,460 --> 00:01:06,920
It's like, this is not the first time I've presented with no pants at DEF CON, I think, too.

15
00:01:06,940 --> 00:01:08,540
Probably won't be the last.

16
00:01:08,540 --> 00:01:12,580
But I did put on my fancy pajama bottoms for this event.

17
00:01:12,580 --> 00:01:14,600
You can't see them, but they're there.

18
00:01:14,600 --> 00:01:16,080
And that's what counts.

19
00:01:16,500 --> 00:01:23,560
So, I just wanted everybody to know that, yeah, this has been quite a year.

20
00:01:24,320 --> 00:01:25,200
Right?

21
00:01:25,200 --> 00:01:29,860
It's like, this is not what we expected to have DEF CON.

22
00:01:29,860 --> 00:01:32,700
I do appreciate the pull on the roof.

23
00:01:32,780 --> 00:01:37,740
But this is literally not exactly what we were expecting.

24
00:01:38,000 --> 00:01:39,900
And so, we adapted.

25
00:01:39,900 --> 00:01:40,820
We're hackers.

26
00:01:40,820 --> 00:01:42,060
That's what we do.

27
00:01:42,060 --> 00:01:48,840
So, I'm really thankful for the way that this whole community came together to make this happen.

28
00:01:49,020 --> 00:01:56,400
Because it did not happen without 100% community involvement from all over the world.

29
00:01:56,400 --> 00:02:04,760
Five years ago, DT actually approached me about being the DEF CON Group's Global Ambassador.

30
00:02:05,240 --> 00:02:06,620
And I talked to him.

31
00:02:06,620 --> 00:02:11,220
And when I heard about that, it's like, I was dumbfounded.

32
00:02:11,520 --> 00:02:14,240
It's like, I was literally just taken aback.

33
00:02:14,240 --> 00:02:16,940
Because it's like, to me, that was a responsibility.

34
00:02:16,940 --> 00:02:19,520
That was not just something that, like, just a role.

35
00:02:19,620 --> 00:02:20,300
It was just a goon.

36
00:02:20,300 --> 00:02:22,420
It was like something where it's like, I wanted to go out.

37
00:02:22,420 --> 00:02:23,600
I had a mission.

38
00:02:23,600 --> 00:02:29,080
And on that day, my mission was to make this a global community.

39
00:02:29,480 --> 00:02:37,000
It's like, a lot of DEF CON Groups were just three-digit area codes, is how I call it.

40
00:02:37,000 --> 00:02:38,500
Mostly North America.

41
00:02:38,900 --> 00:02:41,860
And it's like, that was most of the DEF CON Groups for a long time.

42
00:02:41,860 --> 00:02:44,100
There were some out way before I got here.

43
00:02:44,100 --> 00:02:48,500
The DC4420 was out and around doing amazing work.

44
00:02:48,500 --> 00:02:53,220
It's like, and there were other DEF CON Groups from around the world that were out there.

45
00:02:53,220 --> 00:02:54,900
But I didn't think enough.

46
00:02:54,900 --> 00:02:57,300
It's like, we needed a global community.

47
00:02:57,580 --> 00:03:03,660
And so, one of the things that we did was, and one of my missions was to start going and reaching out to other countries.

48
00:03:03,660 --> 00:03:04,620
I travel a lot.

49
00:03:04,620 --> 00:03:07,620
I go to different conferences all over the world.

50
00:03:07,620 --> 00:03:13,260
And I want to make sure that I'm talking about other local hackers and telling them that they can be part of this.

51
00:03:13,260 --> 00:03:17,080
It's like, they can actually be part of this community.

52
00:03:17,100 --> 00:03:19,720
That it didn't have to stop just at DEF CON.

53
00:03:19,720 --> 00:03:23,880
We could actually make this a local community effort.

54
00:03:23,880 --> 00:03:27,740
It's like, start showing people in your community what hackers really mean.

55
00:03:27,740 --> 00:03:29,520
What hackers can really do.

56
00:03:29,520 --> 00:03:35,860
Start working amongst yourselves and creating projects and creating different ideas and going with it.

57
00:03:35,860 --> 00:03:39,020
That's what DEF CON Groups were about.

58
00:03:39,020 --> 00:03:41,440
That's what's so amazing for it to me.

59
00:03:41,760 --> 00:03:44,860
So, one of the things I did was I started traveling.

60
00:03:44,860 --> 00:03:46,060
I started seeing different groups.

61
00:03:46,060 --> 00:03:47,580
I started seeing popping them up.

62
00:03:47,580 --> 00:03:50,880
It's like the DC-010 in Beijing.

63
00:03:50,880 --> 00:03:53,420
The DC-0086 in Beijing.

64
00:03:53,420 --> 00:03:56,380
It's like the DEF CON Group in Hong Kong.

65
00:03:56,380 --> 00:03:57,960
It's like Shenzhen.

66
00:03:57,960 --> 00:04:01,620
It's like the news hackers in Singapore starting one.

67
00:04:01,620 --> 00:04:03,820
It's like seeing the ones forming in India.

68
00:04:03,820 --> 00:04:07,460
It's like the 27... oh, crap, 411.

69
00:04:07,460 --> 00:04:08,980
It's like Johannesburg.

70
00:04:08,980 --> 00:04:10,000
Sorry, Dino.

71
00:04:10,000 --> 00:04:13,480
But it's like the Johannesburg DEF CON Group.

72
00:04:13,480 --> 00:04:17,520
It's like the Durban DEF CON Group.

73
00:04:17,520 --> 00:04:20,560
It's like seeing all the different DEF CON Groups all over.

74
00:04:20,560 --> 00:04:23,820
We've got DEF CON Groups in Saudi Arabia.

75
00:04:23,820 --> 00:04:25,800
We've got them in Germany.

76
00:04:25,800 --> 00:04:29,400
We've got them all over the world.

77
00:04:30,000 --> 00:04:31,640
And it's in Brazil.

78
00:04:31,640 --> 00:04:35,340
It's like, I mean, every continent, I think, has a DEF CON Group.

79
00:04:35,700 --> 00:04:43,120
And one of the things that got me the most during this pandemic was the adaptability of hackers.

80
00:04:43,940 --> 00:04:45,440
Did we stop?

81
00:04:47,300 --> 00:04:50,220
Did we say, this is defeating us?

82
00:04:50,220 --> 00:04:52,120
This is going to be enough?

83
00:04:52,460 --> 00:04:54,000
It's like, we don't know what to do.

84
00:04:54,000 --> 00:04:55,160
We're just going to do our job.

85
00:04:55,160 --> 00:05:00,480
We're just going to bow down, and we're just going to just not communicate, not be part of a group anymore.

86
00:05:00,480 --> 00:05:02,260
We're just going to stay at our house.

87
00:05:02,700 --> 00:05:03,420
No.

88
00:05:05,240 --> 00:05:08,500
Zoom meetings all over the world started popping up.

89
00:05:08,500 --> 00:05:10,380
DEF CON Groups all over the world.

90
00:05:10,380 --> 00:05:12,300
It's like, they're like, oh, BBCs?

91
00:05:12,300 --> 00:05:13,380
We got this.

92
00:05:13,380 --> 00:05:15,560
They started communicating.

93
00:05:15,560 --> 00:05:17,920
They started getting groups going together.

94
00:05:17,920 --> 00:05:19,120
They started communicating.

95
00:05:19,120 --> 00:05:21,280
They started working together.

96
00:05:21,740 --> 00:05:29,540
And it's so weird that it took an apocalypse to get part of my biggest part of my vision to fruition.

97
00:05:29,540 --> 00:05:30,420
But it has.

98
00:05:30,420 --> 00:05:38,180
It's like having Lee from San Diego give a talk at Alan's DEF CON Group in Australia.

99
00:05:39,040 --> 00:05:41,740
That's what we were looking for.

100
00:05:41,740 --> 00:05:45,060
To start getting the groups to work together.

101
00:05:45,060 --> 00:05:51,080
Stop letting borders dictate who our friends were or who our co-groups were.

102
00:05:51,080 --> 00:05:53,520
And start working amongst each other.

103
00:05:53,520 --> 00:05:55,820
It's like being hackers that way.

104
00:05:56,100 --> 00:05:59,500
That was the most important part of all this.

105
00:06:00,020 --> 00:06:07,860
It's like, and nothing showed this the most until when we started trying to create a DEF CON Groups village.

106
00:06:08,760 --> 00:06:13,340
It's like we had people side pocket.

107
00:06:13,700 --> 00:06:18,000
Alan , 800XL, TX from the 9111.

108
00:06:18,000 --> 00:06:22,120
It's like a lot of the volunteers are from there as well.

109
00:06:22,120 --> 00:06:23,900
It's like all this work.

110
00:06:23,900 --> 00:06:26,200
It's like Alan from Australia.

111
00:06:26,200 --> 00:06:27,840
Mira, who's here.

112
00:06:27,840 --> 00:06:28,880
Endler.

113
00:06:30,000 --> 00:06:31,260
The Rapture.

114
00:06:31,260 --> 00:06:32,920
It's like I started this.

115
00:06:32,920 --> 00:06:36,660
A little brief history on this group.

116
00:06:36,660 --> 00:06:39,320
It's like on this village right here.

117
00:06:39,340 --> 00:06:44,520
This only became about because of something that I just tried to copy.

118
00:06:44,640 --> 00:06:49,020
That I was so impressed with was the Rapture, Sean.

119
00:06:49,020 --> 00:06:51,660
It's like created InfoSecOasis.

120
00:06:51,660 --> 00:06:53,860
And their videos are online on YouTube.

121
00:06:53,860 --> 00:06:55,320
You should check them out.

122
00:06:55,440 --> 00:06:58,540
And he threw together with his friends and organizers.

123
00:06:58,540 --> 00:07:00,080
He didn't do it alone either.

124
00:07:00,080 --> 00:07:04,120
It's like there was a lot of great co-organizers with him.

125
00:07:04,120 --> 00:07:10,600
And they created this facsimile of this world that we built on.

126
00:07:11,020 --> 00:07:16,040
And he created InfoSecOasis, which was a virtual conference.

127
00:07:16,040 --> 00:07:20,000
And I am telling you, when I went there and I spoke there.

128
00:07:20,240 --> 00:07:26,360
For the first time during this whole pandemic, I felt like I was at a con.

129
00:07:26,860 --> 00:07:28,840
I felt like I was at a conference.

130
00:07:28,840 --> 00:07:31,000
I've done Zoom conferences.

131
00:07:31,000 --> 00:07:33,860
I've done WebExes.

132
00:07:33,860 --> 00:07:37,640
I've done all the different kinds of virtual conferences.

133
00:07:37,640 --> 00:07:38,700
I'm doing air quotes.

134
00:07:38,700 --> 00:07:39,600
You can't see it.

135
00:07:39,600 --> 00:07:41,580
It's like, okay, that's my closest I can do.

136
00:07:41,580 --> 00:07:45,420
I did a lot of virtual conferences while we were there.

137
00:07:45,420 --> 00:07:47,660
It's like this last year.

138
00:07:48,640 --> 00:07:53,680
But going to InfoSecOasis and seeing everybody.

139
00:07:53,680 --> 00:07:55,400
Being able to see you guys.

140
00:07:55,400 --> 00:07:57,320
It's like... or people, sorry.

141
00:07:57,320 --> 00:07:59,040
It's like seeing you people here.

142
00:07:59,040 --> 00:08:02,720
And knowing that there's people in there listening into the audience.

143
00:08:03,680 --> 00:08:04,520
Matters.

144
00:08:05,000 --> 00:08:09,960
For you to be able to see someone actually presenting, someone talking on the stage.

145
00:08:10,480 --> 00:08:15,740
It's like, and trust me, when you see talks later, they're going to have more than just one slide.

146
00:08:15,740 --> 00:08:18,140
It's like, so don't worry about that.

147
00:08:18,140 --> 00:08:19,800
It's like...

148
00:08:19,800 --> 00:08:23,700
When I did the InfoSecOasis, if you check that on YouTube, I just had cats.

149
00:08:23,700 --> 00:08:24,940
I just had different kittens.

150
00:08:24,940 --> 00:08:28,800
So this is, you know, about how I roll virtually.

151
00:08:28,800 --> 00:08:33,280
So one of the things about it, though, was like, I was able to attend.

152
00:08:33,280 --> 00:08:34,980
And I was able to walk around.

153
00:08:35,400 --> 00:08:38,300
And I hung out with Grifter and Serbo.

154
00:08:39,440 --> 00:08:41,300
And that was so amazing.

155
00:08:41,300 --> 00:08:44,000
Because it's like, I walk up to them and say, hey, what's going on?

156
00:08:44,000 --> 00:08:46,580
And it's like, we're giving out virtual hugs.

157
00:08:46,580 --> 00:08:48,820
And we're there.

158
00:08:49,140 --> 00:08:52,420
Even though we're in our different parts of the world.

159
00:08:52,480 --> 00:08:53,940
We were there.

160
00:08:54,120 --> 00:08:55,780
Hanging out together.

161
00:08:55,780 --> 00:08:59,940
Serbo was like, hey, let's go check out this other world.

162
00:09:00,340 --> 00:09:02,640
And Grifter and me were like, sure, why not?

163
00:09:02,640 --> 00:09:03,340
Let's go for it.

164
00:09:03,860 --> 00:09:04,300
YOLO.

165
00:09:04,300 --> 00:09:06,240
And so he takes us to this different world.

166
00:09:06,240 --> 00:09:07,620
He takes us to this pub.

167
00:09:07,620 --> 00:09:12,060
And it's like, all of a sudden we're under Cheyenne Mountain with the Stargate.

168
00:09:12,060 --> 00:09:13,800
And it's like, how did this happen?

169
00:09:13,840 --> 00:09:16,280
And it's like, you know, we're going through this.

170
00:09:16,420 --> 00:09:20,440
And Grifter's doing a little joke about aging because we couldn't get back out.

171
00:09:20,440 --> 00:09:23,480
We didn't know how to get out of the Stargate chamber.

172
00:09:23,480 --> 00:09:24,760
So that was odd.

173
00:09:24,760 --> 00:09:27,260
But that was the shenanigans.

174
00:09:27,260 --> 00:09:28,580
That was the fun.

175
00:09:29,100 --> 00:09:32,560
And that's what we tried to bring here to this DEF CON group's village.

176
00:09:33,060 --> 00:09:35,560
There's a pool on the roof.

177
00:09:35,700 --> 00:09:36,920
Go check it out.

178
00:09:37,320 --> 00:09:40,920
It's like, there's a trampoline up there, too, because that's not dangerous.

179
00:09:40,960 --> 00:09:42,700
Well, not now, virtually.

180
00:09:42,800 --> 00:09:47,900
I mean, let's face it, honestly, all us hackers, we'd probably try it if it was actually in real life, too.

181
00:09:47,900 --> 00:09:50,340
But it's like, this one's virtually, so it's way better.

182
00:09:51,480 --> 00:09:54,060
So it's like, go try those out.

183
00:09:54,060 --> 00:09:58,380
Go play around with the dumpster fire.

184
00:09:58,380 --> 00:10:02,120
It's like, when I saw on the screen yesterday, it was so...

185
00:10:02,120 --> 00:10:08,960
I love the fact when people first started going in, the first thing they started doing was like, let's toss the beanbag chairs over the roof.

186
00:10:08,960 --> 00:10:12,260
And I'm like, okay, I should have seen that one coming.

187
00:10:12,940 --> 00:10:14,020
That's on me.

188
00:10:14,020 --> 00:10:16,200
It's like, but it was hilarious.

189
00:10:16,740 --> 00:10:18,140
Because that's what we're doing.

190
00:10:18,140 --> 00:10:19,940
We're just exploring and having fun.

191
00:10:19,940 --> 00:10:20,720
What can we do?

192
00:10:20,720 --> 00:10:21,780
What can we break?

193
00:10:21,780 --> 00:10:23,120
What can we see?

194
00:10:23,120 --> 00:10:25,680
It's like, and that's totally okay.

195
00:10:25,680 --> 00:10:27,120
That's what I wanted.

196
00:10:27,120 --> 00:10:30,180
That's what everybody that started this wanted.

197
00:10:30,960 --> 00:10:36,160
It's like, out of this whole project, it's like this whole village.

198
00:10:36,160 --> 00:10:41,000
It's like, I literally had the least amount to do in this whole thing happening.

199
00:10:41,280 --> 00:10:46,320
It's like, so many people worked for so many hours in so many time zones.

200
00:10:46,320 --> 00:10:53,260
You do realize that these volunteers, it's like, are working through the night in some time zones.

201
00:10:53,260 --> 00:10:56,420
It's after two o'clock in the morning in Australia.

202
00:10:56,740 --> 00:11:01,300
And Alan's been on the Discord already, working on some of the projects.

203
00:11:02,060 --> 00:11:14,160
So it's like, the commitment to these people to make sure that there is an event here for you, that there's talks here for you, should not go unrecognized and should not go unnoticed.

204
00:11:14,160 --> 00:11:17,980
It's an amazing effort that I've seen.

205
00:11:17,980 --> 00:11:25,380
And it has literally made me emotional sometimes, seeing the detail and the thought.

206
00:11:25,800 --> 00:11:30,560
We talk about the beach balls at Lion Con.

207
00:11:30,960 --> 00:11:33,260
We've got beach balls.

208
00:11:33,460 --> 00:11:36,780
I almost cried when I first saw those, legit.

209
00:11:37,060 --> 00:11:41,780
It's like, when I saw it, and I was having a bad week yesterday, last week anyway.

210
00:11:41,780 --> 00:11:51,500
And when I saw those, I saw the effort and the time and the care it took to make those and put them in there was just unbelievable.

211
00:11:51,880 --> 00:12:05,300
Having the beanbag chairs, it's like all the little details you're going to see in this world was not slapped together, but crafted to create that experience.

212
00:12:05,300 --> 00:12:08,160
A little bit of DEF CON history for you.

213
00:12:08,160 --> 00:12:11,960
It's like the ATM out there in front of the lobby.

214
00:12:11,960 --> 00:12:17,000
That's an homage to the sketchy ATM that was left in the Rio one year.

215
00:12:17,100 --> 00:12:23,430
It's like no one knew how the ATM actually showed up in the Rio during DEF CON.

216
00:12:23,720 --> 00:12:28,140
And it was defaced with DEF CON on the ATM.

217
00:12:28,380 --> 00:12:31,240
That's from DEF CON 13 at the Alexis Park.

218
00:12:31,240 --> 00:12:34,300
Someone hacked the ATM, or maybe not hacked it.

219
00:12:34,300 --> 00:12:35,820
There's controversy about what happened.

220
00:12:35,820 --> 00:12:37,660
It sounds cool if they said they hacked it.

221
00:12:37,660 --> 00:12:39,980
It could have been just branding that they put on there.

222
00:12:39,980 --> 00:12:40,780
It doesn't matter.

223
00:12:40,780 --> 00:12:42,100
It sounds cool if they hacked it.

224
00:12:42,100 --> 00:12:52,620
But the ATM at the Alexis Park actually had the DEF CON logos on the screen of the ATM, which really makes you really want to use that ATM to withdraw some money, right?

225
00:12:52,620 --> 00:12:54,040
It was hilarious.

226
00:12:55,640 --> 00:12:57,540
And there's other homages.

227
00:12:57,540 --> 00:13:06,760
There's other little Easter eggs in these worlds for people to find and to see and to experience a little bit of DEF CON.

228
00:13:06,900 --> 00:13:09,880
It's like we couldn't give it to you this year.

229
00:13:10,000 --> 00:13:12,740
We couldn't give you the full DEF CON experience.

230
00:13:12,740 --> 00:13:15,100
And I feel bad about that.

231
00:13:15,100 --> 00:13:17,720
And I really wish that this stuff wasn't going on.

232
00:13:17,720 --> 00:13:20,920
There's a lot of horribleness going on in this world.

233
00:13:21,300 --> 00:13:30,960
But for right now, let's try to work together and socialize and try to listen to talks about people trying to make things better.

234
00:13:30,960 --> 00:13:34,700
People discovering vulnerabilities that are trying to get them fixed.

235
00:13:34,780 --> 00:13:42,160
People that are trying to find new ways to do things, to inspire other people to learn more and to do new things.

236
00:13:42,560 --> 00:13:44,980
That's what this conference is about.

237
00:13:51,200 --> 00:13:54,080
It's on the Discord servers.

238
00:13:54,400 --> 00:13:56,720
It's like on the different streams.

239
00:13:57,020 --> 00:13:59,140
You've got the biohacking village.

240
00:13:59,140 --> 00:14:01,440
You've got the lockpicking village.

241
00:14:01,640 --> 00:14:03,580
It's like I'm not telling you.

242
00:14:03,580 --> 00:14:09,700
It's like I want you to stay here and experience this world and experience what it is.

243
00:14:09,700 --> 00:14:15,560
I hope more people that are on the streams come and join this world and actually see the experience.

244
00:14:15,560 --> 00:14:21,820
Because all I really want is them to feel what I felt when I went to the first InfoSec Oasis.

245
00:14:21,940 --> 00:14:24,120
I just want to feel that connection.

246
00:14:24,120 --> 00:14:26,140
That they're actually talking to another person.

247
00:14:26,140 --> 00:14:27,320
They see the person.

248
00:14:27,540 --> 00:14:31,020
That it's not just someone on a keyboard.

249
00:14:31,100 --> 00:14:32,880
It's like they actually get to be around there.

250
00:14:32,880 --> 00:14:35,100
But there's other streams.

251
00:14:35,100 --> 00:14:36,220
There's other discords.

252
00:14:36,220 --> 00:14:40,520
There's other parts of DEF CON that you can experience virtually and remotely.

253
00:14:41,200 --> 00:14:44,160
It's like go and check out the car hacking village.

254
00:14:44,160 --> 00:14:46,040
The career hacking village.

255
00:14:46,240 --> 00:14:50,320
It's like there's literally a village trying to help you get a job.

256
00:14:50,440 --> 00:14:54,200
People talk about how do I get a job in information security.

257
00:14:54,780 --> 00:14:57,500
DEF CON is providing a village for that.

258
00:14:57,500 --> 00:15:02,620
Christian Renner, Kathleen, it's like so many other people there are working on that to help out.

259
00:15:03,800 --> 00:15:07,780
So there are so many different places and so many different resources.

260
00:15:07,780 --> 00:15:10,400
Don't let this pandemic go to waste.

261
00:15:11,260 --> 00:15:14,840
I mean literally this is already half a star Yelp review on an apocalypse.

262
00:15:14,840 --> 00:15:18,320
It's like I'm not really pleased with it and I wish I could talk to the manager.

263
00:15:18,560 --> 00:15:20,600
It's like it's been horrible.

264
00:15:21,020 --> 00:15:22,180
But you know what?

265
00:15:22,180 --> 00:15:23,480
We go on.

266
00:15:24,000 --> 00:15:25,260
We're hackers.

267
00:15:25,260 --> 00:15:26,180
We adapt.

268
00:15:26,180 --> 00:15:27,300
We improvise.

269
00:15:27,300 --> 00:15:28,160
We overcome.

270
00:15:28,160 --> 00:15:29,960
And yes, I stole that from a movie.

271
00:15:29,960 --> 00:15:32,060
But still, it's good.

272
00:15:32,060 --> 00:15:34,640
And it's part of the hacker credo, I think.

273
00:15:34,640 --> 00:15:36,220
It's part of what we do.

274
00:15:37,280 --> 00:15:38,920
We make it work.

275
00:15:39,580 --> 00:15:43,520
So please, around this village, it's like you're going to see hiccups.

276
00:15:43,520 --> 00:15:43,960
Trust me.

277
00:15:43,960 --> 00:15:46,240
You're going to see glitches in this.

278
00:15:46,240 --> 00:15:47,620
This isn't perfect.

279
00:15:48,280 --> 00:15:51,720
This has only been created in two weeks.

280
00:15:53,060 --> 00:15:55,960
This did not exist three weeks ago.

281
00:15:57,260 --> 00:16:04,380
This was everybody and all the different groups coming together in two weeks to make this happen.

282
00:16:05,240 --> 00:16:08,320
So yeah, it's not going to go flawlessly.

283
00:16:08,480 --> 00:16:09,940
But it's going on.

284
00:16:09,940 --> 00:16:12,900
And it's going to keep going until we're done.

285
00:16:12,980 --> 00:16:14,560
Because that's what we're doing.

286
00:16:14,560 --> 00:16:15,760
We're committed to this.

287
00:16:15,760 --> 00:16:17,580
We want to make it work.

288
00:16:18,360 --> 00:16:24,460
And we want to provide a way for everybody here to learn, but also socialize.

289
00:16:24,960 --> 00:16:27,140
And that's the whole important part.

290
00:16:27,140 --> 00:16:38,120
Because DEF CON groups have all been about socializing, networking, finding others in your area that had the same passions that you do.

291
00:16:38,520 --> 00:16:41,980
People talk a lot about DEF CON now.

292
00:16:41,980 --> 00:16:44,280
Because there's so many people there.

293
00:16:44,280 --> 00:16:48,480
They're like, oh my god, there's 30,000 people that go to DEF CON.

294
00:16:48,540 --> 00:16:49,820
It's like, I can't see anything.

295
00:16:49,820 --> 00:16:51,360
I can't learn anything.

296
00:16:51,940 --> 00:16:53,420
I'm like, are you crazy?

297
00:16:54,580 --> 00:17:01,620
You have 30,000 opportunities to find someone that has the same passion that you do.

298
00:17:03,120 --> 00:17:07,200
DEF CON is no longer just this conference.

299
00:17:07,200 --> 00:17:08,640
I'm doing air quotes again.

300
00:17:08,640 --> 00:17:11,740
It's like just a conference to attend.

301
00:17:13,820 --> 00:17:24,760
DEF CON is a meeting place of minds and individual passions from all over the world to come together and share that.

302
00:17:25,540 --> 00:17:27,680
You like nothing but Wi-Fi?

303
00:17:27,680 --> 00:17:28,980
You're only interested in Wi-Fi?

304
00:17:28,980 --> 00:17:29,320
Mother...

305
00:17:29,320 --> 00:17:31,800
They're the Wi-Fi hacking village.

306
00:17:32,220 --> 00:17:39,480
You can spend the whole conference in that village and learn nothing but Wi-Fi.

307
00:17:40,360 --> 00:17:42,100
You like lockpicking?

308
00:17:42,440 --> 00:17:43,940
Lockpicking village.

309
00:17:43,940 --> 00:17:45,100
Social engineering?

310
00:17:45,100 --> 00:17:47,220
A social engineering village.

311
00:17:49,100 --> 00:17:57,540
So now that 30,000 have become a small pool of people that are in that area.

312
00:17:57,540 --> 00:18:02,120
If they're in the SE village, there's a good chance they like social engineering.

313
00:18:02,880 --> 00:18:07,920
If they're in the voting village, they probably like voting.

314
00:18:09,720 --> 00:18:11,300
Or voting hacking, right?

315
00:18:11,300 --> 00:18:16,600
It's like so if they're in a village, you know that they're going to share the same kind of thing.

316
00:18:16,780 --> 00:18:19,980
So please get out there.

317
00:18:20,040 --> 00:18:20,900
Enjoy it.

318
00:18:20,900 --> 00:18:25,740
I know this was supposed to be a 30-minute talk, but it's like I don't plan this.

319
00:18:26,040 --> 00:18:28,340
It's like I rant till I'm done.

320
00:18:28,340 --> 00:18:32,280
And it's like and I don't like repeating myself, though I do it sometimes too often.

321
00:18:33,000 --> 00:18:35,740
It's like so just understand this.

322
00:18:36,740 --> 00:18:45,680
We're making this DEF CON groups village the best possible presentation, the best possible environment for you.

323
00:18:45,680 --> 00:18:50,960
But just like DEF CON, that part doesn't matter.

324
00:18:50,960 --> 00:18:53,140
It's what you bring to it.

325
00:18:53,880 --> 00:18:55,700
It's what you're bringing to it.

326
00:18:55,700 --> 00:19:00,840
What you want to get out of it and what you work to bring out of it.

327
00:19:00,840 --> 00:19:03,400
And what you share for others.

328
00:19:03,400 --> 00:19:04,920
That's what makes it.

329
00:19:05,980 --> 00:19:08,200
That's what makes it a worthy experience.

330
00:19:08,200 --> 00:19:10,360
That's what makes it a success.

331
00:19:10,700 --> 00:19:17,200
So don't just partake of this discord or this DEF CON groups village.

332
00:19:17,540 --> 00:19:19,140
Add to it.

333
00:19:19,140 --> 00:19:21,760
Have conversations with other people.

334
00:19:22,040 --> 00:19:24,320
Go outside your comfort zone.

335
00:19:24,460 --> 00:19:28,160
It's like go run to when you're seeing people in the lobby and they're talking about something.

336
00:19:28,160 --> 00:19:29,540
Go and talk to them.

337
00:19:29,540 --> 00:19:32,660
It's harder at DEF CON, I know.

338
00:19:32,660 --> 00:19:36,340
But it's so rewarding because they want to learn too.

339
00:19:36,500 --> 00:19:39,440
And they want to share their information too.

340
00:19:39,740 --> 00:19:43,340
It's easier here because we're all virtual.

341
00:19:43,760 --> 00:19:45,740
So go do that.

342
00:19:47,100 --> 00:19:49,760
Take something from here.

343
00:19:50,000 --> 00:19:52,600
But also leave something.

344
00:19:52,780 --> 00:19:54,280
Some knowledge.

345
00:19:54,460 --> 00:19:56,040
A connection with someone else.

346
00:19:56,040 --> 00:19:58,500
It's like bring something to this group.

347
00:19:58,500 --> 00:20:07,820
And when you are done with this and when DEF CON is over, find a local DEF CON group in your area and keep it going.

348
00:20:08,020 --> 00:20:10,620
Keep that knowledge share going.

349
00:20:10,680 --> 00:20:18,000
And I always tell people, if there's not a DEF CON groups in your area, Mother, start one.

350
00:20:18,360 --> 00:20:20,280
You don't need permission.

351
00:20:20,280 --> 00:20:21,540
We're hackers.

352
00:20:22,380 --> 00:20:23,880
Start a group.

353
00:20:23,880 --> 00:20:25,600
Make it happen.

354
00:20:26,540 --> 00:20:29,500
It's like let's all work together.

355
00:20:29,500 --> 00:20:36,420
Not just to make things better in the online world, but also in IRL.

356
00:20:37,160 --> 00:20:40,860
So I hope you have a really good DEF CON.

357
00:20:40,860 --> 00:20:43,020
I hope you have really good villages.

358
00:20:43,020 --> 00:20:46,680
There's a lot more technical and a lot better talks coming up.

359
00:20:46,700 --> 00:20:50,300
And I think you're going to really enjoy them.

360
00:20:50,860 --> 00:20:54,640
And they're from DEF CON groups from all over the world.

361
00:20:54,640 --> 00:20:58,420
Brazil, India, Australia.

362
00:20:58,420 --> 00:21:02,360
It's like Colombia, I believe, or Chile.

363
00:21:02,360 --> 00:21:03,060
It's like, sorry.

364
00:21:03,060 --> 00:21:04,960
It's like, but from everywhere.

365
00:21:05,820 --> 00:21:08,480
People sharing knowledge.

366
00:21:08,920 --> 00:21:11,960
Not for money, but because of passion.

367
00:21:12,240 --> 00:21:14,640
Because that's what they believe in.

368
00:21:15,740 --> 00:21:17,360
So let's learn something.

369
00:21:17,360 --> 00:21:18,840
It's like, let's go with it.

370
00:21:18,840 --> 00:21:21,500
And hopefully we make this a monthly occurrence.

371
00:21:21,500 --> 00:21:25,640
I want to keep having DEF CON group global villages.

372
00:21:25,640 --> 00:21:30,780
It's like a DEF CON group global meetup every month.

373
00:21:30,940 --> 00:21:35,720
It's like the pandemic has shown us that we can adapt.

374
00:21:36,020 --> 00:21:39,860
The pandemic has shown a lot of people a lot of things.

375
00:21:40,320 --> 00:21:43,240
We've understood what essential workers are.

376
00:21:43,240 --> 00:21:46,460
We've understood how easy it is to work from home.

377
00:21:46,740 --> 00:21:49,320
We found a lot of things out.

378
00:21:49,320 --> 00:21:52,360
A lot of bad things and a lot of positive things.

379
00:21:53,260 --> 00:21:55,800
Let this be one of the positive things.

380
00:21:55,920 --> 00:21:58,280
That we can have a global meetup of hackers.

381
00:21:58,280 --> 00:22:02,000
That we can keep working together to make things better.

382
00:22:02,280 --> 00:22:06,220
So I'm going to open it up for eight minutes of questions.

383
00:22:06,500 --> 00:22:08,680
It's like if anybody has any.

384
00:22:08,800 --> 00:22:10,620
And if you don't, that's totally okay.

385
00:22:10,620 --> 00:22:12,860
Because let's face it, I've talked a lot.

386
00:22:13,300 --> 00:22:15,560
So I'm totally okay with that.

387
00:22:16,520 --> 00:22:17,760
Is there any questions?

388
00:22:17,760 --> 00:22:19,880
Just do your little raise hand emoji.

389
00:22:22,390 --> 00:22:23,570
Okay, that's a clapping.

390
00:22:23,570 --> 00:22:25,130
I appreciate the applause.

391
00:22:26,710 --> 00:22:28,090
Is there any questions?

392
00:22:28,090 --> 00:22:29,870
And that's fine if there's not.

393
00:22:31,510 --> 00:22:32,470
Perfect.

394
00:22:32,970 --> 00:22:34,110
That's awesome.

395
00:22:34,110 --> 00:22:37,150
Okay, we're going to give it a small 30-minute break.

396
00:22:37,150 --> 00:22:39,970
While we get the other speakers prepped and ready.

397
00:22:40,230 --> 00:22:44,090
And once again, thank you so much for being here.

398
00:22:44,090 --> 00:22:47,830
Please bear with us as we go through this village.

399
00:22:47,830 --> 00:22:50,830
And try to keep it working and keep it afloat.

400
00:22:51,010 --> 00:22:54,190
And I will be around.

401
00:22:54,190 --> 00:22:56,970
I'm also the camera person right there.

402
00:22:56,970 --> 00:23:01,150
That's why that weird blue person is floating in the sky right there.

403
00:23:01,230 --> 00:23:04,630
So we will be having the camera going through.

404
00:23:04,630 --> 00:23:08,390
And whenever you see that person, let them know that they are building.

405
00:23:08,490 --> 00:23:11,570
And that goes to the DEF CON Discord server.

406
00:23:11,570 --> 00:23:13,850
And also streaming on Twitch and YouTube.

407
00:23:13,850 --> 00:23:18,330
So people after DEF CON can come and look at the village.

408
00:23:18,330 --> 00:23:19,190
Look at the talks.

409
00:23:19,190 --> 00:23:20,490
See what we did here.

410
00:23:20,490 --> 00:23:23,470
Because I do not want this to fade away.

411
00:23:23,850 --> 00:23:25,590
I want this to stay.

412
00:23:25,590 --> 00:23:28,470
I want people to remember this and see this.

413
00:23:28,470 --> 00:23:33,010
That in two weeks, groups from all over the world made this happen.

414
00:23:33,230 --> 00:23:35,050
And it was effing awesome.

415
00:23:35,810 --> 00:23:38,570
And a part of that was because of y'all.

416
00:23:38,650 --> 00:23:40,830
Not just because of the people that created it.

417
00:23:40,830 --> 00:23:43,810
But the people that took the time and effort to show up.

418
00:23:43,850 --> 00:23:46,750
And be a part of it in the actual all space.

419
00:23:46,830 --> 00:23:48,570
Thank you for all that.

420
00:23:48,850 --> 00:23:50,250
Okay, now I'm done.

421
00:23:50,990 --> 00:23:51,950
See you later guys.

422
00:23:51,950 --> 00:23:53,230
Wait, hold on, hold on.

423
00:23:53,230 --> 00:23:54,670
Because this is so much cooler.

424
00:23:56,250 --> 00:23:57,430
Drop mic.

425
00:23:57,430 --> 00:23:58,350
I'm out.

426
00:23:59,430 --> 00:24:02,370
And now I just like move sideways off the stage.

427
00:24:03,330 --> 00:24:04,690
Play the music.

428
00:24:05,030 --> 00:24:06,090
And boom.

429
00:24:25,620 --> 00:24:27,800
And that was pretty interesting.

430
00:24:29,460 --> 00:24:29,940
So...

431
00:24:32,460 --> 00:24:34,940
I have no idea what do I have to say.

432
00:24:34,940 --> 00:24:39,380
So, did you guys like the keynote session?

433
00:24:40,300 --> 00:24:42,940
If yes, drop me some hearts.

434
00:24:44,800 --> 00:24:46,300
Thank you.

435
00:24:46,460 --> 00:24:51,300
Up next, we have a talk on red teaming.

436
00:24:51,300 --> 00:24:57,800
So, if anybody has some experience with the same or wants to learn something about how red teaming works.

437
00:24:57,860 --> 00:25:02,760
Or how you can set up a red team and other stuffs.

438
00:25:02,760 --> 00:25:05,180
You can just go on and ask questions to the host.

439
00:25:05,240 --> 00:25:08,800
And we're gonna have the same presentation any time sooner.

440
00:25:09,080 --> 00:25:10,600
So, be there.

441
00:25:15,120 --> 00:25:18,240
Oh, I'm gonna have a hard time to put that mic on.

442
00:25:18,380 --> 00:25:19,400
So, okay.

443
00:25:20,040 --> 00:25:21,400
That's a success.
