[00:00.680 --> 00:07.440] All right, good morning, everybody, and welcome to Ham Radio Village at DEF CON Safe Mode.
[00:07.980 --> 00:13.660] My name is Eric, AI0J. I'm one of the village leads for Ham Radio Village, and we are very
[00:13.660 --> 00:19.200] excited to be back here at Safe Mode. Last year was our first year as a village at DEF CON,
[00:19.200 --> 00:23.880] and at the end of DEF CON last year, we said to ourselves, well, at least next year will be
[00:23.880 --> 00:28.820] easier. We'll know what's going on. We were pretty wrong about that, obviously, with everything that
[00:28.820 --> 00:34.340] happened over the last six months. But, you know, Ham Radio is all about overcoming adversary and
[00:34.340 --> 00:41.500] communicating in adverse conditions. And so here we are at Safe Mode. So before we get started,
[00:41.500 --> 00:45.900] first, I'd like to thank all of the Ham Radio Village staff. We have a whole bunch of people
[00:45.900 --> 00:50.840] on staff, a whole bunch of people giving talks and presentations this weekend. And without all
[00:50.840 --> 00:57.020] of their participation and help, we would not have a village. So thank you. Just some quick things.
[00:57.020 --> 01:03.480] The website is hamvillage.org. And on there, you can find the complete schedule of all our talks
[01:03.480 --> 01:08.020] and presentations, as well as all information about the various channels we have on the DEF CON
[01:08.020 --> 01:12.060] Discord server. We've already seen a bunch of activity in those channels, especially around
[01:12.060 --> 01:17.800] exams. So absolutely hop on there, ask us questions, just hang out, chat, have a good time.
[01:18.100 --> 01:24.760] We'll be posting updates throughout the con at Twitter, at Ham Radio Village. So stay tuned
[01:24.760 --> 01:29.760] to that for important schedule changes, updates, as well as information about our special event
[01:29.760 --> 01:36.560] call sign, K3K. All the talks will, of course, be presented here on twitch.tv slash ham radio
[01:36.560 --> 01:41.780] village. So they'll be open for everyone and they will be uploaded after the con.
[01:41.860 --> 01:45.340] So if you do miss them live, it's okay. You'll get them on recording.
[01:45.900 --> 01:52.480] As I mentioned a minute ago, we have call sign event station K3K, which has been working already
[01:52.480 --> 01:58.420] since Thursday. Various modes, various bands. So hopefully you can get to work at that station if
[01:58.420 --> 02:05.960] you get on air. And we may even have a special QSL card for you if you work us. So yeah,
[02:05.960 --> 02:10.360] so really that's about all I got. I hope everyone has a great time during DEF CON safe mode. Hope
[02:10.360 --> 02:14.220] they enjoy our village, as well as all the other villages. Everybody has worked really
[02:14.220 --> 02:19.700] hard over the past few months to put this together and to make it a success. Thanks!
