[01:04.050 --> 01:11.360] Hi everybody, I'm Dan Weber, the Chief Executive Officer for the Election Integrity Foundation. [01:11.360 --> 01:19.260] That's the not-for-profit that is behind DEF CON's 28th Voting Village here in safe mode. [01:19.260 --> 01:26.520] I'm coming to you live from outside of Quantico here in Virginia. And I would really want to [01:26.520 --> 01:32.720] thank you for being part of day one. This kind of marks the end of today's speaker panel. [01:33.420 --> 01:40.840] And all the different speakers that we had today, I mean, it was amazing. We had Senator Wyden, [01:40.840 --> 01:49.360] Representative Jackie Spears, Secretary of State Wyman from Washington. It was quite a phenomenal [01:49.360 --> 02:00.540] day. We really appreciate Martin Mikos' comments, as well as others. And all the speakers spoke [02:00.540 --> 02:09.320] about the problem of making sure that there's not the signed legal disclosures, but really [02:09.800 --> 02:17.600] to make sure that it is more open. And the disparity between some of the voting machine [02:17.600 --> 02:23.220] companies and other things from the government making sure how to appropriately go about [02:23.220 --> 02:29.180] reporting issues that are found within vulnerabilities and such within our election [02:29.180 --> 02:36.160] process. It really does take a village and we really need to have the best and the brightest [02:36.160 --> 02:45.980] involved along the way. Honestly, it looks like from our perspective, we've been taking baby steps [02:45.980 --> 02:52.940] along the way. And there's a lot more that needs to be done. If you listen to Bryson Bort's [02:53.580 --> 02:58.420] Fed panel, and Bryson's obviously a good friend of the Voting Village. He's over there at the [02:58.420 --> 03:04.000] ICS Village as well. But he really brought everybody back around. And it was great to [03:04.000 --> 03:11.300] see a light shone down upon all of the work that our government agencies are doing behind the scenes [03:11.300 --> 03:16.480] to try everything they can in their power and everything that we're trying within us to make [03:16.480 --> 03:23.360] sure that votes are counted in the election. As I said earlier in the opening statements, [03:23.360 --> 03:30.780] really, it's up to us to make sure that people get out and they vote. And I'm saying voting is [03:30.780 --> 03:38.400] at the very core of our democracy. It really is the principle of how we make sure that there are [03:38.400 --> 03:43.700] elections. We also need to make sure that votes are counted so that there is a peaceful transition [03:43.700 --> 03:50.140] of power, and that people believe the votes at the end of the day. You know, if you look at it [03:50.140 --> 03:58.440] today, there are now 18,000, almost 19,000, close to 19,000 now unofficial members of the Discord [03:58.440 --> 04:05.220] channel for Voting Village, and it's just the first day. So we all are taking it very seriously, [04:05.220 --> 04:12.200] and we're very much excited to bring you yet another action-packed day in day two tomorrow [04:12.200 --> 04:19.740] of the Voting Village. But guess what? We're not over yet today. It was really exciting for us [04:19.740 --> 04:26.780] that our friends at HBO, and if you've seen the movie, or I should say the documentary, [04:26.780 --> 04:32.760] Kill Chain, an awful lot of, you know, DEF CONs in there. We have The Dark Tangent, [04:32.760 --> 04:40.620] then we have Mouse, and obviously my business partner and fellow organizer for the Voting [04:40.620 --> 04:48.600] Village, Hari Hirsties, in it. My other partner, Maggie McAlpine, is in the video. It's just a, [04:48.600 --> 04:52.520] it really does take a village. I also want to point out all the extraordinary efforts behind [04:52.520 --> 04:59.920] the scenes of Mary Hanley in keeping us all on track so that, you know, we could bring this [04:59.920 --> 05:04.800] to you today. Obviously, there's been a few little glitches along the way. It's our first time ever [05:04.800 --> 05:13.460] doing this, you know, in this era of the pandemic. But tonight, though, we can, and even all the way [05:13.460 --> 05:23.000] through Sunday evening at 11.59 p.m., HBO has opened up Kill Chain for you to sit there and [05:23.000 --> 05:33.700] watch on YouTube. Tonight at 8 p.m. Pacific Daylight Time, 11 o'clock p.m. Eastern Standard [05:33.700 --> 05:41.840] Time, we're going to do Q&A. That Q&A, you can watch the, you know what I'm saying, the panelists, [05:41.840 --> 05:50.360] which would be Dark Tangent, Hari Hirstie, Sarah Thiel, the producer, and Maggie McAlpine will all [05:50.360 --> 05:57.120] be available to watch on YouTube and Twitch. And you can go in and you can have interactive [05:57.120 --> 06:04.380] questions answered via Discord. So we're very excited to, you know, give you this opportunity [06:04.380 --> 06:13.980] on a Friday night. And we welcome your continued participation tomorrow and appreciate all that [06:13.980 --> 06:20.670] you're doing and such. And, you know, by the way, we, you know, we couldn't do all this without, [06:20.670 --> 06:27.730] you know, the funds and such. And so go out there and visit our swag page, get yourself a [06:27.730 --> 06:35.030] Voting Village t-shirt and other things and such, and continue to help us bring not only [06:35.030 --> 06:43.830] the Voting Village, but other voting and security education forward for the community through our [06:43.830 --> 06:49.470] Election Integrity Foundation. Look forward to seeing you guys all tomorrow. Thanks again.
