WEBVTT

00:00.000 --> 00:07.580
We're at the Hacker Warehouse, and I'm getting introduced to a ton of the different badges that people have created all over Connaught.

00:07.580 --> 00:10.180
I wanted to show them some of them off to you right now.

00:10.180 --> 00:13.440
And a lot of these we've looked at before, but some of them are just so cool.

00:13.540 --> 00:18.660
I think the Make It Hacking has to be one of my favorites, but they're all so cool.

00:18.680 --> 00:21.940
The Make It Hacking, when on the surface, it doesn't look that interesting.

00:21.940 --> 00:23.940
It's like, okay, there's some barcodes.

00:24.100 --> 00:36.360
But what this does is it's probably one of the more dangerous things to walk around in Vegas with, because it will set off almost every alarm when you walk out of a store.

00:36.360 --> 00:39.240
Where they have the little safety alarms that go off.

00:39.240 --> 00:47.700
Probably not the best one to wander around with, but definitely some shenanigans to be had with it.

00:47.700 --> 00:50.300
Some of the other ones, which I really like here.

00:50.300 --> 00:54.360
I always love Brayden's e-challenge coins.

00:54.360 --> 00:59.960
He put so much effort into such a small device, and they also kind of look great on your shelves.

01:00.000 --> 01:04.800
This here is a cool, like Simon Says-like game, which is fully functional.

01:04.800 --> 01:06.320
You just have to put the battery in.

01:06.400 --> 01:14.740
And then there's a whole story which follows a character that he's been building over years of doing these challenge coins.

01:16.000 --> 01:17.100
There's so many of them.

01:17.100 --> 01:21.540
The other one I want to point out was the Mindset Badge, the Hacker Mindset Badge.

01:21.540 --> 01:26.000
This is Garrett's badge because he's been writing a book on the Hacker Mindset.

01:26.000 --> 01:34.040
And what's cool about this one is you can't actually pre-order the book yet, but through the badge sale, you get to pre-order the book.

01:34.040 --> 01:35.340
Which is really cool.

01:35.340 --> 01:38.900
By buying the badge, you get a pre-order for the book.

01:38.900 --> 01:45.260
And this one has a full Raspberry Pi on it, so it can simulate keyboards and HID attacks.

01:45.260 --> 01:50.280
But then the same thing, it also looks super nice around Conference for Da Food Up.

01:50.280 --> 01:52.840
And then it has a bunch of different white modes on it.

01:52.840 --> 01:58.120
So not only does it look good, but you get a full Raspberry Pi, which is fully hackable as well.

01:58.880 --> 01:59.800
Like this one.

01:59.800 --> 02:01.060
This one's really cool.

02:02.120 --> 02:10.780
But just going through them, even like with the new, the DEF CON badge this year, you have these add-on pieces that stick in and blow up.

02:10.780 --> 02:15.600
So it's been really interesting all around CON, seeing what people do with the SAO.

02:15.600 --> 02:18.560
Or I guess in this case, the slide-in.

02:18.560 --> 02:23.060
This one adds on two SAO ports onto the badge that get powered.

02:23.060 --> 02:25.980
So you can continually just customize your badge.

02:26.040 --> 02:30.160
But the one that caught my interest is the sneaky badge.

02:30.160 --> 02:36.320
But right before we get to that one, I want to cover this one, which looks so cool.

02:36.320 --> 02:39.500
So many of these don't have batteries in it, so I can't turn it on.

02:39.500 --> 02:45.000
This is the Secure Autonomous Surveillance System badge.

02:45.000 --> 02:53.960
And what's really cool about this one is it's plugged in with a LoRa radio, which communicates with the other badges of this type.

02:53.960 --> 03:04.220
So when more of these badges get together, and at CON there's quite a few of them, they interact and it will do different light patterns depending on how many of your friends you're around.

03:04.220 --> 03:06.160
I think this one's really neat.

03:06.160 --> 03:18.140
But the one which I find most interesting, because I've never seen one like this before, is the sneaky badge, which is fully customized where you can slide out these letters and slide them back in.

03:18.140 --> 03:20.420
But it's not just a pretty badge.

03:20.420 --> 03:25.500
There's a full challenge inside it, which is also built on the Raspberry Pi.

03:25.500 --> 03:39.320
Not only does it look really cool and you get the full letter packs, but the way you fulfill challenges inside the game is pulling out the letters and sticking them in for it to recognize different letter types and unlock challenges.

03:39.320 --> 03:41.140
And then there's other challenges within.

03:41.140 --> 03:48.380
So I've been seeing people all over conference customizing these with their handles and using them as a nice name badge.

03:48.380 --> 03:49.740
All really cool.

03:49.740 --> 03:55.540
I am so curious to see what other badges exist at DEF CON, but for now, all of these.

03:55.540 --> 03:59.380
Thank you Garrett for allowing us to use them at the Hacker Warehouse.

03:59.380 --> 04:00.780
I know they're for sale there.

04:00.780 --> 04:02.180
Thank you so much.

04:02.180 --> 04:04.520
Thanks for watching and hack on!
