0	7100	Hi everyone, welcome back to TinyMike Interviews at DEF CON 31. I'm here today at the lockpicking
7100	12520	village with my friend Max. Hey, how are you doing? Good to see you again. And so I'm super
12520	18640	excited because I'm super curious to hear about lockpicking and the rise of lockpicking in media
18640	23360	and I feel like I've been seeing a lot more content creators pop up with lockpicking. So
23360	28620	I'm super curious to hear how you feel like that's affected the village this year. It's definitely
28620	33460	more and more popular and we've got more space this year and we've still somehow filled that
33460	40660	space and so that makes me very happy, very excited. Yeah, this is a great turnout. Have
40660	47300	you seen any like lockpicking creators around DEF? Not yet. I've seen some in Vegas yesterday but
47300	54660	I have a feeling they're all asleep. They're hiding. Actually, lockpicking dev is at the
54660	59040	table somewhere. Oh my god, awesome. Come to think of it. And I want to talk about what's in
59040	65580	your hand right now. This book that is coming out called Locksport, which I don't know what
65580	71420	Locksport is. What would you describe Locksport as? It is the sport of lockpicking. So not
71420	81220	necessarily for the employment part of it or for physical penetration testing. It's just the fun
81220	86780	and the challenge and the competition of seeing who can pick a lock faster than the other or open
86780	94700	one that couldn't be opened before. Would a bad analogy be like Rubik's Cube solving competition?
94700	100260	Same thing. We get a bunch of locks, a bunch of people try to pick it as fast as they can,
100260	105840	then we'll switch so everybody gets a fair chance. This is the way some of them work.
106200	110420	And then everybody adds up their times. Whoever has the shortest time among all the locks on the
110420	116800	table wins. Awesome. So tell me more about the book. So this is not a book that I wrote,
116800	121520	but a bunch of friends did. They wrote it about Locksport, the challenges of different locks,
122080	128280	the history of various different lockpicking and lock opening. And I'm super excited for it.
128280	133820	There's been a bunch of people collaborating on it. They're doing a book signing tomorrow,
134300	142580	at 1 p.m. at No Star Express booth. And even as somebody who's been doing a lot in Locksport,
142580	147660	I'm excited to read this and I know I'm going to find some gems. Awesome. And is there anything
147660	152880	that you think, for the people watching at home, what should they know this year?
153740	159520	I mean, it's always stay safe, stay legal, like don't pick locks you don't own.
160520	165020	We got a bunch of new stuff this year at DEF CON, at the sales table,
165080	169480	a lot of people have been asking for flat turning tools, pry bars, so we have those.
170420	173620	But yeah, just keep an eye on the tool store for some new stuff. I think we might have some
173620	178420	updates to that online as well. Awesome. In the near future. Yeah. Well, thank you so much for
178420	182520	taking the time out of your data interview. I'm super glad that we were able to catch up this
182520	186640	year. Me too. It's good to see you again. Yeah. Thanks, everyone. We'll see you on the next
186640	187560	interview.
